My Sister’s Keeper

Tiy Graham has been a pillar amongst our Rising Leaders for multiple years. She works hard every day to take one step closer to having the life that she has always dreamed of. While her path is filled with traps and potholes to distract and frustrate, the light within her spirit refuses to let them be the end of her story.

Family means a lot to Tiy, even if most of the time it feels like she doesn’t mean a lot to them. Earlier this year, Tiy found herself being called upon to comfort and protect her little sister during a time where life felt like it was spiraling out of control for the both of them. Fortunately Tiy knew the painful path that her sister was traveling on all too well, the scars on her heart served as a map of sorts. Through the pain, fear, and confusion, Tiy was able to capture the joy that her pain now had purpose — to bring comfort to someone she loved. Tiy was able to ignite a spark of hope and multiply it going forward.

After dance class, walking into Talbert House. "You're gonna be ok... You'll learn about God, we'll have fun, I'm with you."

Tiy knows that pain can always be transformed into something beautiful — especially when it is put to music! Tiy loves to dance, and what she loves even more is helping others get out there and dance as well. We hope you enjoy this spotlight on Tiy’s dance team from last summer and look forward to seeing more to come!

Rising Leader Tiy mentored a group of young women at the Evanston Rec Center. They found joy in community, confidence in themselves, and the courage to explore God's love for themselves. This past week, these 6 girls sat down together for their first official Bible study together, led by their “big sister” Tiy.

Tiy’s Raving Fan

“This is the most amazing big sister, aunt cousin, and best friend. The day I met her I knew that. She was walking by her gift for God. Her spirit is felt with the beast of resilience and a high achiever. She has a gift to guide the princesses in Queen. She taught them so much cause she treats you like a family member. I see me in her and she loves encouraging and uplifting these young queens and most of all the little sister and big sister. She is what we call an old soul. I was so proud to meet this queen. I love working with her so I know the right way to talk to young people and to make sure their voices are heard..

That's queen Tiy.”
